Early symptoms of pregnancy

What are the symptoms of Pregnancy?

Starting pregnancy on a healthy note can make the next nine months lot easier. Taking a pregnancy test is the only sure way to know that you are pregnant. There are some early symptoms of pregnancy, but it may not be seen in all pregnant women. Symptoms are things which you experience, while signs are the changes seen in your body by the doctor.

 Some symptoms of pregnancy

One of the most obvious signs of pregnancy are changes in menstruation. Missing your periods is probably the first tell-tale sign of pregnancy.  Between six and 12 days after conception, you may notice spotting or bleeding as the embryo becomes implanted in your uterine wall. This is known as implantation bleeding and is one of the first signs of pregnancy.

After that, your periods may stop. This is when most women suspect pregnancy. Breasts may get tender, sore, tingly or fuller than usual. This usually sets in one or two weeks after conception. Additionally, the areolas—or the skin around nipples—may become darker due to hormonal changes.

Morning sickness is another telltale sign of pregnancy. This can occur two to eight weeks after implantation. Nausea tends to happen because elevated hormone levels may cause food to empty the stomach slowly. Also, pregnancy may make one more sensitive to smells, making certain odors more likely to trigger nausea.

Feeling sleepy or tired may be a symptom that may indicate that you have successfully conceived. While it's true that many conditions or factors can cause fatigue, pregnant women tend to experience this due to changes in hormone levels, blood sugar, blood pressure and higher blood production.

Pregnant women can have strange food cravings.  Like many other symptoms of pregnancy, unusual cravings could also be because of the fluctuating hormones. Conversely, these changes may cause aversions to certain foods or beverages, such as coffee or fatty foods.

The symptoms mentioned above are some of the symptoms that you could experience. When you notice these changes and when you are suspecting pregnancy, do see your doctor and get it confirmed.
