Stretch Marks Creams during pregnancy

What are stretch marks?

Stretch marks are pink or sometimes purplish streaks on the belly which appears in the last stages of the pregnancy due to the rapid expansion of the belly to accommodate the growing baby.

Stretch marks can appear on your thighs, buttocks, thighs, hips and breasts.

The skin becoming thin and pink and itchiness around an area are the first signs of getting stretch marks.

Remember, they are not harmful in any way to your health and there isn't a specific treatment for them.

After the birth of the baby, the marks should gradually fade into white-coloured scars and become less noticeable. They probably won't go away completely.

What causes stretch marks?

Before keeping your palms on your cheeks and giving a long thought about why just you, you should know that stretch marks are common in the general population and don't just affect pregnant women.

Whenever the skin is stretched as in gaining or losing weight, you might notice stretch marks. Hormonal changes in pregnancy can affect your skin and make you more likely to get stretch marks.

Pregnancy weight gain is more than average in pregnancy. Most women gain between 10kg and 12.5kg (22 and 28lb) in pregnancy, although weight gain varies a great deal from woman to woman.
