The Pregnancy - Week 19

This is your 19th week. The baby is growing rapidly. By the end of this week, the baby is probably 8 to 9 inches long and 600 grams in weight. The baby’s kidneys could also have begun functioning now and making urine and the baby’s head could have some hairs on it. The brain would have also developed by now and muscles would also be developing.

You may be able to feel the movements of your baby more easily now and can feel the baby kick. You may feel a little dizzy this week and this could be because of deficiency of iron in your blood or could be due to low sugar. You may have to contact your doctor and get your HB levels and sugar levels checked up in your next visit. Try to take frequent and nutritious meal like cereals and chappathi with lots of vegetables many times a day. You should not take any medication without consulting your Doctor and should also keep away from herbal medicines. YOur baby may be able to hear you now. So don't be shy about talking to her or singing for your baby. Research shows that listening to music during pregnancy can have a very good effect on the baby.

You may be experiencing some pain in your lower abdomen. This pain could be brief and could come and go once in a while. this is most probably due to the stretching of the round ligaments that support your uterus. As the uterus expands they get stretched and this could cause those occasional pain. This is normal. But, if it increases in severity than make sure you seek medical advice.
