पॉलीसिस्टिक डिम्बग्रंथि रोग या PCOD महिलाओं में बांझपन के कारणों में से एक है। PCOD के साथ महिलाओं में अनौपचारिक मासिक धर्म चक्र होता है, अर्थात् इन महिलाओं में, हर महीने अंडाशय से अंडाशय की कोई रिहाई नहीं होती है। उनके पास अंडाशय में कई छोटे अल्सर वाले द्रव वाले सब्स की संरचनाएं होती हैं। वास्तव में, "पॉली" शब्द का अर्थ ‘कई’ या ‘बहुत’ हैं। ये अल्सर तब होते हैं जब सामान्य मासिक धर्म चक्र के नियमित परिवर्तन बाधित होते हैं।

Polycystic ovarian disease ( PCOD) is a common cause of infertility. Women with PCOS may have infrequent or prolonged menstrual periods or excess male hormone (androgen) levels. Because, they have irregular cycles, usually they don't ovulate regularly.  As the egg is not released every month, the chances of pregnancy decreases.

The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that 60 to 80 million couples worldwide currently suffer from infertility1. Infertility varies across regions of the world and is estimated to affect 8 to 12 per cent of couples worldwide.The WHO estimates the overall prevalence of primary infertility in India to be between 3.9 and 16.8 percent
