Stress can delay ovulation and increase the frequency of uterine contractions. Delayed or erratic ovulation can make chances of pregnancy difficult. Frequent uterine contractions can make it harder for the fertilized egg to attach to the uterine wall further delaying pregnancy. So, it is very important that you keep tension in check by avoiding known stressors whenever possible and getting as much sleep as you can schedule. Exercise is also known to decrease the levels of cortisol, which is a stress hormone. Exercise is also known to decrease blood pressure and increase blood flow to reproductive organs.
Diet should include as many fruits and vegetable, whole grains and plenty of water. Take a diet rich in Iron, folic acid and calcium. Taking a prenatal vitamin daily will ensure that you are getting all the nutrients you need.
But, remember that getting pregnant takes time. Some couples may take six to 12 months to get pregnant. A 2013 study of Danish women in the journal Fertility and Sterility found that women aged 35-39 still have a 78 per cent chance of getting pregnant within one year without help.
